The ladies at Dainty Jewell’s have done it again, folks! They’ve crafted another masterpiece called the Merry-Go-Round dress. You may recall I previously featured animal print and plum lace midi dresses from Dainty Jewell’s. I loved those dresses, but I’m head-over-heels for this gingham number, which I have dubbed the perfect summer maxi dress. Read on for more details on this gorgeous dress!

Design
I’m crazy about the gingham print and color of this dress. The checks are the perfect size for a dress with so much fabric (larger checks would not be flattering). This dress comes in two colors: pink and almond brown. I chose pink because it’s a universally flirting color and brown would be a bit redundant on my skin tone. It also comes in two lengths: maxi (54″-55″) and midi (44 1/2″-45″).
Quality
Along with having a flattering print and stunning color, this dress is well made of silky, no, heavenly soft cotton. When I say “heavenly soft,” I’m not exaggerating. It’s the softest dress I’ve ever owned. My biggest struggle is remembering to take it off before lying in bed because I know if I don’t I’ll wake up in it several hours later. Seriously.
Another benefit of the fabric used for this dress is that it’s lightweight, an ideal quality for wear in warmer months.
Fit
As you can likely tell from the above photos, this dress fits like a dream. The wrapped waist creates a feminine silhouette of vintage appeal and the ¾ sleeve length is perfect for hiding jiggly arms. However, this dress has no give or stretch, so you should size up if you have a voluptuous upper body (large chest, apple shape, etc.). Oh, and to all my fellow petite girls: Please note that I’m wearing flat sandals with this dress. The rule that short girls can’t wear maxi dresses = a LIE. 😉
Price
Perhaps the only ‘issue’ with this dress is the price. At $95, this dress is more like an investment. Still, if you have disposable income and want to support a company that actively promotes beautiful, modest dress, I highly recommend this dress. It may be the best clothing purchase you make all summer
How to Wear it
This is a perfect piece for one-piece, throw-it-on-and-go dressing. You can add jewelry to personalize your look (I suggest a minimal touch with a thin gold bracelet), but you really don’t have to add much. The only accessory you may need is a complementary bag or clutch. Here are some of my picks for this dress if you need inspiration:

Oh My! THis is so much like a maxi dress of my mother’s from the late 60’s /early 70’s! Hers had short sleeves, but otherwise almost identical. we just gave it to goodwill last year. 🙁
