Celebrating Love & Elegance with Azazie

Modest Bridesmaid Dress and Valentine Outfit Idea from Azazie via DowntownDemure.com l A Modest Fashion Blog
Today is the national day for celebrating love in the US. As I mentioned in my last post, I’m not a big fan of celebrating the actual holiday. I AM a big fan of love, and this year I feel so incredibly blessed to bring in the new year with a man I love and I know loves me back (because few actions illustrate love like allowing your anal girlfriend to drag you to a 1.5-hour photo shoot on a Saturday) while wearing a dress from a company that has love, kindness, and elegance embedded in its ‘DNA’.

Dress: c/o Azazie (in color red) // Clutch: Sole Society // Boy: All Mine 😉

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Azazie is a magical company that specializes in custom bridesmaid dresses. I’ll come right out and admit that I absolutely ADORE Azazie, so much so that I had to work with them twice. But my love isn’t unfounded or financially motivated. I adore Azazie for its commitment to craftsmanship, service, and responsible production. The clothes are expertly constructed and tailored by artisans from family-owned factories who enjoy their crafts. Each piece is made-to-order to guarantee a fit that’s tailored to YOUR body. Even the Azazie website is built for a custom experience that allows you to find clothing based on your needs and standards, be they modest dresses, red dresses, and even mother of the bride dresses.

Most importantly, Azazie has continually committed to socially and environmentally responsible manufacturing by reducing waste and ensuring all workers in their and their partners’ facilities receive a fair wage has four main I agreed to this collaboration before I publicly declared my commitment to ethically made clothing. Now I’m especially grateful I can confidently share Azazie with my lovely readers knowing it’s a responsible company.

But enough gushing about the company itself, let’s get into specifics for the Kara dress (in red) I’m wearing in the photos above.

WHAT I LOVE

The color: I feel the pictures do this dress a disservice. The red color of the fabric is far more vibrant in real life.

The quality: Constructed entirely from genuine chiffon, this is an elegant dress made to last for years, maybe even decades.

The fit: The artisans cut and sewed this dress to fit the exact measurements I provided; therefore, the dress fit perfectly (per my artisan’s advice, I added a half inch to the waist so it wouldn’t be too snug). That’s the kind of fit you can expect from Azazie. Since the measurements you provide are so critical, I advise you patiently take accurate measurements or have someone else do it. You do NOT want to rush the measurement process outlined in this section. Oh, and this style, as with most Azazie dresses, is available in sizes ranging from 0-30.

The style: As long as the color red, A-line silhouettes, and knife accordion pleats are in style, this dress will be chic. Since I don’t foresee any of the aforementioned trends ever becoming passé, I dub this a timeless dress that can be worn for years to come. Perhaps the only detail that ages it is the bejeweled waist and collar.

The price: The most incredible aspect of this dress is not the construction or the vivid color, it is the price. For this dress to be beautifully constructed with custom measurement AND ethically made, I would assume it costs several hundreds of dollars. Nope! This dress only costs $139.

WHAT I DONT LOVE

The lengthy wait time: As with any custom made clothing, it will take several weeks to months before you see the final product. IT took about 9 weeks for me to receive my Kara. Thus, I don’t advise purchasing a custom-made dress from Azazie if you have a tight deadline. I actually had to push back my photo shoot by a month because I chose a dress in a pre-made sample size instead of waiting for a custom dress. Yea, definitely don’t do that…

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my (boyfriend-approved) Kara dress once I finally received it. Now, I need more occasions to wear it since the holidays are over.

This is a beautiful dress on you!! So stunning! I have looked at their dresses before for my sister’s wedding in may. I would have chosen one of them if I wasn’t making the dress myself! they have a great selection!

I love this dress, and it looks great on you! No, it looks amazing on you! It’s so neat that you mention this brand, because i was just looking at their dresses online the other day, seeing if it would be an option for my maid of honor dress. unfortunately, they don’t have the color red i need, but it would have been a great option otherwise! and also very affordable 😉 and I saw that their dresses were ethically made and I was like “ooh, I wonder if Liz knows about this place” lol on the website, this dress looked almost frumpy, but it definitely doesn’t look that way on!!

Oh, you know me so well, sweet Elizabeth! Thanks for the sweet comment. Such a bummer that they don’t have the red you need! Have you looked at eshakti? or making it yourself?!

I have looked at eShakti, but they don’t have what we’re looking for either. I’ve looked almost everywhere and can’t find anything, so it’s definitely getting discouraging! And no, there’s no way *i* can make one, but I am going to look into having a seamstress alter one. But right now, I can’t even find one to alter! lol

It’s such a stunning piece. And possibly having to wait longer makes it more wanted and special? ha ha!!
