Oh, gingham. Is there another fabric more perfect for spring than that crisp checkered goodness? I think not. I mean, I love chambray as much as the next fashionista, but I can wear that year round. Something about gingham feels special this time of year. Perhaps it’s because it’s lightweight, polished, and gives me hope that maybe (just maybe) I can dress as effortlessly well as Audrey Hepburn one day.

Despite my undying love for gingham, Iโ€™ve never owned a classic gingham skirt. So I was thrilled when my friend Kia, founder of a modest fashion boutique called Me&My, offered to send me a gingham skirt from her store. Read on for my honest review of this dainty gingham number!

About the Shop

Me&My was founded by Kia Drew (fun fact: sheโ€™s a model). Me&My isn’t just another modest fashion online boutique — it has a unique demand-based business model that centers on what’s trending with customers. Me&My introduces the clothing and brands, the customer chooses what she loves, and then Me&My fulfills the order. Itโ€™s simple but brilliant.

I was particularly excited to work with Kia because she is a fellow sister in Christ stepping out in faith to pursue a modest fashion focused dream God placed in her heart. Turns out she is as kind and sweet as she is beautiful, and I have no qualms about referring people to her shop.

Design and Fit

I love the large, bold check printed on this gingham skirt. The size perfectly complements the unique coral color. I also love the A-line silhouette and that the length of the hem that hits underneath the knee. Unfortunately I don’t love the fabric as much as I love other features of this skirt. It’s a bit stiff because it’s primarily made of polyester and not the typical cotton gingham. While the stiffness helps the pleats stay in place. I would’ve preferred a light, airy cotton that flows in the wind. I also don’t love that the checks don’t line up evenly between the band and body of the skirt.

This skirt fits true to size. I ordered one size up because I thought the band might be too tight on my waist. Turns out itโ€™s slightly too large, but nothing noticeable to anyone but me.

Customer Service

You all know I’m a stickler for packaging (I want to know my clothes were sent wig love and not stuffed into the nearest UPS box. So I was thrilled when I received my skirt beautifully wrapped I white tissue classy reminders of Me&My’s brand. Kia unsurprisingly is very responsive and dedicated to marking her customer happy (including me even though I didn’t pay her!)

Price

This beauty is only $20 pre-shipping, so it’s very affordable.

How to wear it

What I love most about Thai skirt is that it’s versatile ridiculously easy to style. If you’re a shirt and flat sandals kind of girl, you can easily pair those times with this skirt and still look polished. If you like to dress up, you can add heeled sandals and a blouse just as I did. If you’re really crazy you can find a gingham top with a similar color and smaller gingham pattern and rock the double-gingham trend.

Summary

While I’m not a fan of fabric, I love the shape, pattern, color, and price. If you’re looking for an affordable and effortlessly feminine skirt for the warmer months, you’ll LOVE this skirt. I know I do. Don’t be surprised if you see me rocking this multiple times on Instagram and Snapchat (My username is downtown demure in case you want to follow my daily adventures.

This is honestly one of the prettiest outfits and posts I have seen in a while – PINNING!!! You are an absolute vision and I think Audrey Hepburn (and Jackie O for that matter) would certainly be proud.

Gingham really is such a fun pattern to wear in the warmer months, you nailed it right on the head when you said it is special because of it’s limitation to only certain months. I always anticipate pulling out my gingham!

Liz, this is so beautiful!! I love how you tied your shirt over the skirt, and the flowers in your bag. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything gingham before, but I want this whole outfit! Thank you for highlighting shops run by ladies I can feel good about supporting!

I have to admit, that when I first saw the skirt I was entralled!! But then when you tell me it’s only $20—OMG—it might need to come home to me!!
You look lovely—and you’re right…I can’t tell that the waistband is too big (although that’s usually an easy alteration)!

I’ve always been wary of gingham, associating it with picnic tablecloths. I know, I know, ridiculous, but the truth ๐Ÿ™‚ which is why I haven’t (yet) embraced that print. I’ve loved seeing it on a myriad of stylish women, yourself included, Liz, and maybe, perhaps, I’ll try it out myself ๐Ÿ™‚ incidentally, you look GORGEOUS. Such an ingenue vibe, not unlike Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina, granted her gingham was a shirt.

And speaking of gorgeousness, Liz, my weekly Friday link-up is live and on the blog now, and I would love for you to come and share this outfit xoxo
