Skirt: c/o Mode-sty ($58)// Top: H&M ($24) // Jacket: Old Navy ($27)
Necklace: DailyLook ($24.99) // Heels: DailyLook // Bag: Coach
Friends, I have another beautiful Mode-sty creation to share with you. Last week I reviewed the gorgeous teal Empress maxi dress; this week I’m reviewing the Perfectly Pleated Maxi Skirt. Zahra from Mode-sty literally surprised me with beautiful maxi skirt in the mail, and I’m so glad she did (I don’t know how she knew pleated skirts are the way to my modest fashionista heart). Since you’re already familiar with the awesomeness of this brand, I’ll keep this review short and sweet.
Fit + Function
This skirt almost felt like it was made for me, it fit so well. It measures 40’ from waist to hem, and the hem fell right at the top of my feet, just a touch before touching the ground. That means no tailoring and no heels are necessary (unless you’re like me, and you enjoy torturing yourself with 3.5 inchers)! Hooray! That also means you can wear this skirt causally, as I did with a jean jacket and lace top, or dress it up a bit with a silk blouse and heels. This is an ideal summer skirt for when you just want to throw on clothes and still look fabulous.
Quality
This is another well-made Mode-sty piece. It’s made of 100% polyester, but it certainly doesn’t look cheap. The sewing and finishing are impeccable. It’s fully lined and opaque. The name of this skirt (“Perfectly Pleated Maxi”) is not deceptive – it is indeed perfectly pleated with box pleats. My only issue, as I expressed to Zahra, is that the fabric has a slightly shimmery finish which felt more appropriate for fall and winter months. Even still, the cream color is spot on for spring and summer, so the shimmer isn’t a major issue.
Price
At $58, this skirt is worth it. A similar skirt would easily cost $79 at a fast fashion retailer like Zara, and it would be made with a lot less love and poorer quality. If you’re looking for a nice summer skirt you can wear for years, to come, this is a winner. Even better news: If you enter the giveaway below, you might win a $25 gift certificate to Mode-sty – that would make this skirt $24 before taxes and shipping. Oh, and there’s only 24 hours left to enter the giveaway, so get on that!

You have no idea how refreshing it is to see a fashion blog where the clothes are affordable! Being in college, I can’t buy a $200 jacket unless it’s for Christmas or my birthday! So to see your posts that are full of great clothes at great prices, I appreciate that! 🙂
Elizabeth
> Hanha HobsonI’m out of college and I can’t afford to just buy $200 jackets!! Haha. I’m so glad you found this helpful, Hanha. Thank you for the sweet comments. I completely understand the budget restrictions, as I was POOR in college. Even as an adult, I have to be careful with my spending. Most of my designer things I’ve purchased on steep discounts from sample sales and just working at certain retailers. You definitely don’t have to spend a lot to get pretty clothes that last.

At first glance I thought this was a dress – and it’s gorgeous – but even better that its a skirt. SO many options. Beautiful color and can’t beat the price. You look lovely.

Hey girl!!! I LOOOOOVEE what you did with this skirt. You really have an eye for fashion because the outfit you chose is so cute! It’s so summery and pretty. I like how you’re like the official model for this skirt haha…if I win I will probably go with either the black midi or maxi skirt, maybe the pleated one (because I desperately need black skirts.) Ok, not desperately, but I wouldn’t mind one 😉 I also really like the “high tea” skirt (I think,) the white and blue one, it’s really nice.
Elizabeth
> Holly LoubeHaha! Girl, you are TOO sweet. Thank you for the love and model comment. I actually laughed out loud at that. Thinking of myself as a model feels…ridiculous. Haha
Oh, and check your email. 😉

That is such a cute skirt! I’m glad that you posted it because I have been looking all spring to find a maxi skirt and most of them are so expensive.
