Necklace: c/o Covet and Adorn l Clutch: Zara l Shades: Celine
A casual, carefree stroll down the beach on a warm summer night with mists of ocean breeze splashing my skin. That’s what I think of whenever I see this dress. The lightweight jersey fabric and beach-y graecian print scream “summer, summer, summertime” to me. Perhaps that’s why it’s my favorite Anthropologie dress I’ve ever owned. I purchased this last year to wear to my friend’s wedding, and I’m still crazy about it.
As much as I love this dress, there are some issues: it has a racer back cut and the arm holes are cut really low, exposing my bra and way more of my back than I’m comfortable showing. So I always have to wear a cover up with this dress. I typically don a cropped gray cardigan or shawl, but I figured I’d try something different for this shoot: a chambray shirt tied around the waist. It was definitely a risk. Do you think it paid off?
Here are some more dreamy Anthro maxi dresses (hint hint: you might want to sign up for Anthro’s email list so you can be notified of their sales):

Love this outfit! And I think that the chambray shirt totally works with that maxi dress! Trés Chic!

*blushing* Thank you, Charlotte!
This dress looks beautiful with the tied up chambray shirt! It always annoys me when the perfect dress has something wrong with it haha. But you’ve solved the issues with some great creativity here, and the outfit is lovely. Great necklace too! Have an awesome weekend!
Aww, thank you, Alecz! You are too sweet! Yea, it’s so annoying when there’s just ONE thing wrong with a nearly perfect dress. But, hey, at least we get to exercise our style chops to remedy the problem. 🙂
Looks awesome with the chambray shirt! I’m so glad I now have Instagram so I don’t have to miss out on this! I’ve entered many giveaways on Instagram already, just haven’t won yet lol. I’ve been to their website before but not in a long time. However, I don’t think I would have any problem finding something to buy from them if I won 🙂
Thanks, Elizabeth! And hey, I haven’t won any of those giveaways either (hmph). Whenever I host mine, I wish I could win them myself! Haha. I’m sure you’ll be able to find something worthwhile with $200 to Anthro…they have adorable home goods as well!
This outfit is adorable!
On the dress modesty “issues”-have you checked into Halftee? I use their tank top Halftee all. The. Time. Seriously! They’re awesome for under tank tops that just aren’t appropriate as is.

Totally forgot about halftee! Thanks for reminding me! That will work perfectly. I do recall you have several cute looks with their tees 🙂
This dress looks so great on you! I love the print, and I really like the way you layered it with the chambray top. Anthro is my favorite store EVER.
Thank you for the love, Jenna!
I love maxi dresses, and this one is particularly pretty!
I also love me a good maxi. Thanks, Margaret!
I’m totally obsessing over this dress! And it looks AMAZING on you!

This dress is just GORGEOUS! You totally rock it! I never would’ve thought of pairing a maxi with a chambray shirt but it just works!
What a beautiful dress! I love how you paired it with the chambray shirt. This color really suits you. 🙂

I’ve been on the hunt for a maxi dress, and I LOVE this one! You styled it super well, too. I entered the giveaway, too. It would be so awesome to win!
So glad I was introduced to your blog (from Alice’s link up). Your lifestyle and fashion is right up my alley. Love the chambray shirt with this maxi. I can totally relate to this same issue, I’m not one for showing too much skin.

great look. I’m glad you found a way to hide the “flaws” you didn’t like with the dress. =) It totally works!

Thanks, Nancy! Had to get a little creative. 🙂
