It’s no secret that I love my chambray and denim button-downs and I love my flares, especially these classic flared blue jeans from Zara. However, lately I’ve sought different ways to wear my denim shirt with jeans besides the ol’ front tuck and go. A few days before my shoot, I had an ‘aha’ moment when I realized I could tie the front of my shirt instead of tucking it (just like I did in this shoot featuring my Anthropologie dress).
Now, I’m no size 2 model with tiny legs. Like most of you, I have a list of body hang-ups, and my, err, healthy thighs are at the top of that list. I typically resort to covering them in some way, so this style was a departure for me. In order to avoid highlighting the widest part of my thighs, I tied my shirt right above my hips. (Quick tip: If you have a curvy figure like me, you should typically avoid wearing a shirt that lands at the widest part of your thighs as it will create a line that makes your thighs appear wider than they are.) And voila! I now have a new way to rock denim-on-denim in the summer. If you’re looking to shake up your denim routine, you should try this quick trick! It’s easy and makes your whole an otherwise casual outfit look put-together. Just don’t forget to tag me on Instagram when you share your pics of your front-tied denim!
I just have to take a minute to gush about my friend Virginia’s handmade sustainable jewelry company, Razimus Jewelry. Not only does she make cool looking silk bracelets, she has a cool process for designing her accessories – she repurposes and upcycles vintage designer dresses and remnant shantung silks from a handbag designer’s collection – and she has a cool story herself. Virginia is Type 1 diabetic wife, mama and business owner who refuses to let her diabetes slow her down. She’s a rockstar who was recently featured on CBS 6 Albany and the Albany Time Union news for riding in Tour de Cure and creating beautiful red bracelets to fund diabetes research. If you’re also passionate about supporting remarkable women who make fashionable and affordable products with a purpose, I highly recommend checking out razimusjewelry.com and collecting a few of her stackable bracelets and statement necklaces. A special bonus for my readers: You can use code DD20 to get 20% off your entire purchase on Razimusjewelry.com!
In this picture, I’m wearing: The Lissie in organic shibori, the Sylvan in upcycled ‘sunkissed’ silk, and the Simone in upcycled ‘seafoam’ silk.
So tell me, what do you think of Razimus jewelry and my new trick for wearing denim button-downs?

> MichelleYou are so sweet! Thank you for the love, Michelle! I must admit, I’ve been lugging this tote with me everywhere…except the beach. I sadly haven’t gone to the beach yet this summer!

I love the flared jeans! They actually accentuate your least favorite asset nicely, without being over the top or too out there. And I’m a big fan of tying up tops as well, it really helps smooth out any weird lines you might get from tucking your shirts in, especially into pencil skirts, etc.

> ShianExactly! Depending on how bulky the shirt is, my faithful tuck doesn’t always look as clean as I’d like. Thank you so much for the love, Shian!
