Guess what, guys. As of tomorrow, it’s FINALLY and officially Spring. (Although if you live in Southern California like me, you’re probably wondering if it’s actually the first day of summer). The most exciting part about spring, aside from the gorgeous flowers blooming, is that we can ditch our heavy winter clothes and break out our spring wardrobes. For me that means LOTS of midi skirts.
I couldn’t wait to break out my favorite midi skirt from Asos. The electric blue color is so rich and appropriate for spring, and the scuba material is lightweight and flouncy. I feel like such a lady in this ensemble, so I had to throw in the classy pearl lariat from Covet and Adorn and my favorite new bag: The Cora from Jordana Paige.
I can’t gush enough about this versatile bag. It is very cleverly designed with multiple pockets on the inside, including a separate pocket just for your tablet. Best part: the clutch on the front of the bag can be detached and worn separately as a clutch or wristlet. Now I wish ALL my bags had a datachable clutch.
You can nab your own Cora bag (or any other Jordana Paige bag) at 10% off using code DD515 (code expires on May 15, so don’t wait too long!)
Midi skirts are an absolute staple for any woman. You can wear them year round and they are super easy to style. If you’re hesitant to try this skirt silhouette, don’t be. The secret to making a midi skirt work is in the length. If you’re a shorty like me, you should get a midi skirt that hits just under the knee (tailor it for the most flattering fit). If you’re over 5’6, lucky you. Just about any midi skirts will look good on you. Just make sure the hem of the skirt falls above your ankles. Quick tip: If you have a midi skirt in a bold color (like my electric blue skirt), balance it with a neutral or muted top.
If you’re ready to take the midi skirt plunge, here are a few of my affordable favorites:
What are you lovely ladies wearing for the first day of spring? Are you as big a fan of midi skirts as me?

I will not be wearing typical spring like on Friday because in North Carolina it is still kind of cold outside! I believe I picked a army green long sleeve floral embroidered top ,a brown skirt, and timberlands. I love midi skirts and that is what I am wearing Friday but with tights!
Elizabeth
> lanae bondSounds like a cute transitional outfit! Sorry you’re still in cold temps, though.
Morgan
Ooooh I am completely obsessing over this skirt! You look gorgeous (as always)!! Very “Downtown Demure” and ladylike. 🙂
Elizabeth
> MorganHaha! You’re hilarious. Thank you, Morgan!

I’m gonna miss sweater weather but I’m so excited about all the pretty spring colors and styles! I love midi skirts. They are so feminine and modest. I don’t like when they hit mid-calf length, I like them right below the knee. Mikarose has like, the best skirts ever lol You look so feminine and graceful in these pics! Yes, definitely like a lady 🙂
Elizabeth
> ElizabethOh, I need to check out Mikarose’s skirts! I agree. Right below the knee is the perfect length. I’m always impressed with ladies who can pull off longer midis and not look foolish. Haha. You’re so sweet! Thank you for the kind words, Elizabeth!
Ashley Collins

This outfit is adorable. I’ve been looking for some great midi skirts for this spring/summer. I found a pleated one at H&M that I think I’m going to try, but I haven’t looked at Asos yet!
Elizabeth
> Courtney KincaidThank you, Courtney! 🙂 H&M has some really cute midi skirts (and maxi dresses!). I’m a creature of habit, so I almost exclusively get my midis from Asos. I know the quality will be great and they will last (that skirt is over 2 years old and has been worn MANY times).
Erica @ Coming Up Roses
I absolutely love everything about this outfit. It’s trendy but polished and professional without being stuffy, it’s colorful but has some wardrobe staples so nicely incorporated – I LOVE.

I’m apparently one of the “lucky” ones ( I’m 5″8)
Although I have to say there’s two sides to that coin. Such as, 4″ heels make me look like Gargantua 😉
I’m excited for Spring! It’s crazy where I live though! It snowed yesterday, yet the day before I was out sun bathing. Friday is supposed to be 68! Such is life in Montana. Wouldn’t trade it for the world!
